Investment by Foreign Institutional Investors
The Reserve Bank of India has on March 23, 2001 notified that no further purchases of equity shares of State Bank of India should be made on behalf of Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs)/Non Resident Indians (NRIs)/Overseas Corporate Bodies (OCBs)/Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) in the primary/ secondary markets without obtaining prior clearance of the Reserve Bank of India. The aggregate net purchases of the equity shares of this bank has reached the limit of 18 per cent of its paid up equity capital.
