Investment by FIIs/NRIs/OCBs/PIOs in shares of Indian companies

The Reserve Bank of India has on November 29, 2000, notified that foreign investments in ICICI Ltd. under the portfolio investment scheme has gone below 49 per cent. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs)/Non-resident Indians (NRIs)/overseas corporate bodies (OCBs) and persons of Indian origin (PIOs) can, therefore, after obtaining prior clearance of the Reserve Bank of India purchase equity shares of ICICI Ltd. through stock exchanges under the portfolio investment scheme (PIS).
