ستمبر 14, 2009Restrictive practices while accepting bank notesIt has come to the notice of the Reserve Bank of India that certain establishments are adopting restrictive practices such as not accepting notes of certain denominations or series etc. The Reserve Bank of India, therefore considers it necessary to emphasise that all government/semi-government offices, public/ private sector institutions and also any other organisation/establishment/ individual accepting cash should desist from such practices. For further informationIt has come to the notice of the Reserve Bank of India that certain establishments are adopting restrictive practices such as not accepting notes of certain denominations or series etc. The Reserve Bank of India, therefore considers it necessary to emphasise that all government/semi-government offices, public/ private sector institutions and also any other organisation/establishment/ individual accepting cash should desist from such practices. Except for the change in signature and inset letter the design of these notes to be issued now is similar in all respects to those issued earlier in Mahatma Gandhi Series. All Rs.5/- denomination banknotes issued by the Bank in the past will continue to be legal tender. جولائی 31, 2009RBI Clarification on Forged NotesSome newspapers have been erroneously quoting Nayak Committee report for estimates of forged currency notes in circulation in India. The Reserve Bank clarifies that: There is no estimate of forged notes in circulation by any agency. The Nayak Committee, which was set up in 1988, to go into the dynamics of currency management had, in its report, estimated the value of notes in circulation (genuine notes) in the year 2000 at Rs.1,69,000 crore.
