To mark this occasion, the Reserve Bank has arranged an exhibition of all the banknotes issued since its inception. The exhibition is in the Reserve Bank's Monetary Museum and will remain open for public viewing till June 30, 2010. Entry to the exhibition is free. ستمبر 14, 2009Restrictive practices while accepting bank notesIt has come to the notice of the Reserve Bank of India that certain establishments are adopting restrictive practices such as not accepting notes of certain denominations or series etc. The Reserve Bank of India, therefore considers it necessary to emphasise that all government/semi-government offices, public/ private sector institutions and also any other organisation/establishment/ individual accepting cash should desist from such practices. For further informationIt has come to the notice of the Reserve Bank of India that certain establishments are adopting restrictive practices such as not accepting notes of certain denominations or series etc. The Reserve Bank of India, therefore considers it necessary to emphasise that all government/semi-government offices, public/ private sector institutions and also any other organisation/establishment/ individual accepting cash should desist from such practices. The Reserve Bank clarifies that: There is no estimate of forged notes in circulation by any agency. The Nayak Committee, which was set up in 1988, to go into the dynamics of currency management had, in its report, estimated the value of notes in circulation (genuine notes) in the year 2000 at Rs.1,69,000 crore.
