Investment by NRIs/OCBs/PIOs In shares of Indian companies

The Reserve Bank of India on August 2, 2000, has notified that non-resident Indians(NRIs) / overseas corporate bodies (OCBs) and persons of Indian origin (PIOs) can now purchase in the secondary market equity shares of the following companies upto 8 per cent of their paid up capital under the portfolio investment scheme, as the holdings of NRIs / OCBs / and PIOs have gone down below 8 per cent.
