Overview

Unsolicited emails, calls and messages promising large sums of money are fake. Do not risk your hard-earned money.

  • Don't get cheated by SMS, phone, email in the name of RBI, officials of RBI and / or any authority saying your card has been blocked or promising you large sums of money
  • Don't send money as initial deposit, commission or transfer fee to anyone to receive large sums of money from known or unknown organisations
  • RBI does not open an individual's account, nor does it offer credit or debit card
  • Don't reveal your bank account details, internet banking user ID, password, credit or debit card number, CVV, ATM PIN or OTP to anyone*. RBI or your bank will never ask for these.
  • Do not give details of your bank account by clicking on links received through SMS / Email. Rely only on information given on your bank's official site, or on the reverse of your credit or debit card.
  • You can lodge a complaint with local police, cyber-crime authorities or on sachet@rbi.org.in, if you receive any offers of cheap funds from abroad or within India
